Is a dental bridge a lot cheaper than an implant?
I am missing one tooth in the side of my mouth and was considering having an implant until I heard the co-pay with my insurance is $2400. Are bridges a lot cheaper?
they are, but they don’t last as long as an implant and they can stretch, cause the teeth they’re conneted to to become bad. (cavities, wearing of enamel)
I’d say it’s cheaper,but to be on the safe side ask your dentist.

Bridges are MUCH cheaper than implants. Since when did insurance cover implants?? You’re paying for it. And it takes about 6 months after the implantation of the post to allow for healing. You’d have a temp crown during that time and then the permanent crown would be cemented. A partial bridge for the one tooth may run you only $250. You really need to see your dental office and talk money to know precisely what you’ll have to pay.

Bridges are cheaper but they are not better for you. A bridge basically locks onto the other teeth and sits on your gum. You will able to remove it and clean it frequently. There is no bone touching the bridge – which is the weakness of the bridge. You may have to buy a bridge several times – so the one time expense is not the total expense of a bridge.
The dental implant is superior in several manners. The dentist will attach the implant to the bone and this will stimulate your bone just as if you had a normal tooth there and the bone underneath your implant will grow just as if you have a normal tooth. Implants generally go in once and stay there for your life time. They do break occasionally but no where nearly as often as a bridge.
The implant is easier to take care of and it is better for your dental health. Believe it or not you have a good price for the implant and installation. Many implants have micro-groves in them so as the dentist puts in the implant, bone will grow into the implant where it should and your gum will grow into the implant where it should and you can forget about it.
The important thing is that you will have a healthier jaw bone with the implant. Have you ever seen these little old ladies who seem to have no jaw but have false teeth? Well that is because the jaw bone was not stimulated to grow because the false teeth were never connect to the bone.
World Health Organizations are all for dental implants in especially older folks because older folks often starve to death because their dentures do not fit any more and they lack the ability to tell anyone what the problem is.
