How much do dental implants hurt to have put in and afterwards?
How painful is it to have two implants in the upper mouth and how long is it painful for afterwarsd, also is there anything you should avoid afterwards.
Thanks
I have dental implants (see my avatar) It hurt more to have my teeth pulled than the implants. They don’t hurt at all now. I have had them now since 2005.
I love my new smile.
I can eat anything I want except it wouldn’t be advisable to chew things like ice as that is bad for natural teeth. I clean them the same as one does natural teeth with a water pic, floss and a toothbrush.
My teeth are attached by screws. I do not remove them.
Generally it is accepted that on the Sadist pain scale 3 is about average diminishing to zero, the timescale depending upon the individual’s pain threshold.

Most of my patients say the extractions of teeth are worse than having the implants placed. This procedure is very safe with minimal pain. You should take one day off to take it easy, but should be fine after that. You can google implants and find information on dental implants. You can go to the ada website to learn more.

My dentist always advise to avoid smoking after any tooth removal, as you can get infection by smoking apparently

Varies from person to person, I had a bit of swelling and my jaw was sore for about a week (though I had several placed at the one time and a couple of teeth pulled) I would say any amount of pain is well worth it in the long run……

it is not very painful whilst your in surgery, and if you are scared of it hurting you can take an oral sedation 20 minutes before you are due to have your implants placed (ask your dentist about this) it makes you feel extremely relaxed and you will obviously need someone to take you home. it could swell the day after but your dentist should give you some antibiotics and warn you of all this. you should aviod any form of excercise and take it easy for the 1st day or so, again your dentist should go through all the pros and cons of this procedure. hope i have been of some help
