Who Has Had Experience With Dental Implants?
I am curious as the cost, effectiveness, etc., etc., of dental implants – what kind of coverage did you get from insurance? Thanks in advance.
I have place many implants in my career and even have had one done on myself. They are incredibly successful and have brought dentistry into a new era. They allow you replace a tooth without having to involve other teeth to connect it to. The allow denture wearers to have much more stability and chewing power with their denture. They are less painful that doing an extraction. The cost is about the same as a replacement with a fixed bridge. In my experience about half of the dental insurances offer any coverage. You will not be sorry if you get one. Good luck.
My mom had it about a year ago. Our insurance covered all of it, thankfully. But i’m not sure about the price and when you come back home it hurts a lot and you feel horrible. But nowmy mom is OK I guess. You might want to consider it more, unless it hurts horribly.

My father has had dental implants for much of his mouth, and I am considering one for one tooth. I will tell you right off the bat that most insurance companies do NOT cover dental implants (I have a really great met life plan, and it’s not covered). They will cover xrays, and probably for the local anethesia. That’s it. The ONE tooth dental implant will cost me $1,800. I haven’t had the guts to schedule the appointment yet!
Also, as it is considered surgery, there is some down time. My dad was not allowed to do any strenuous physical activity for a few weeks after the surgery. He had a fairly negative experience. The bottoms, he said were okay, but putting in the top portions were extremely unnerving, because they are essentially drilling a whole in your skull. How encouraging, right? That’s why I haven’t had mine yet. Have you considered a bridge instead?

I have one fake tooth(it broke in a accident when I was 12) I can tell its not the same as the others but it hasn’t given me any problems. "my parents payed for it so I don’t know what it cost." Then I have one veneer not sure if correct spelling. That’s when they put a cap over the fount of your tooth. I can also tell its not the same with my tongue. It cost about one hundred and that was after insurance and I have good insurance. If I smiled for you right now you would never know that two of my teeth are fake and have been for years! They look great and I don’t have any complications with them

A dentist
I work at an oral surgeons office and we do many implants. They cost about $1,800- 2,400 depending on anesthesia, if the tooth is out or needs to be extracted. Insurance does’nt cover implants usually. We use Bicon implants they work great.

I got one right when I turned 18. It’s probably the only thing in my mouth that hasn’t given me problems. They gave me a quarter of a valium 20 minutes before the surgery and I was soooo relaxed.
The surgery itself took maybe 45 minutes (same amount of time as getting a filling) and I was given 4 Rx’s to take home.
I had 2 weeks worth of vicodin and used every bit of it! I just had to eat squishy things for a couple weeks and when the bone grew back in and around the screw, I got a permanent tooth put on and it’s been the least of my worries thus far.
My veneers, crowns, and fillings have all needed replacing at one time or another, but that screw is going to last longer than I will!
You will definitely regret not getting it if you think a bridge is a suitable alternative. Bridges degrade and destroy the surrounding teeth and only make things worse.
My screw was $3,000 (after insurance), but I’d go back and spend every penny all over again.
